Discontinued E-Bikes Don’t Have to Become Unrepairable:

Budlong Helps Bring Hard-to-Find Parts Back Within Reach

For e-bike owners and independent bike shops across the U.S., one of the biggest repair challenges isn’t fixing the bike—it’s finding the right parts.

When an e-bike is discontinued or its manufacturer shuts down, critical components such as motors, controllers and electrical systems can become difficult or impossible to source. For riders, an otherwise usable bike may end up sitting unused. For bike shops, the only option may seem to be turning the customer away.

Budlong Mobility is working to change that.

Based in Southern California, Budlong is an e-bike and bicycle mobility company focused on more than selling bikes and components. The company also provides repair, maintenance and supply solutions, with a focus on helping keep e-bikes on the road long after the original sale.

Budlong’s advantage comes from its international technical and manufacturing network. Its team includes e-bike specialists with experience across Taiwan and China, and the company works with motor and electrical-component manufacturers and partners in China, Taiwan, Japan and Europe.

When a bike shop encounters a discontinued or unsupported e-bike, Budlong can help identify potential manufacturers and alternative sources for critical components such as controllers and motors, based on the bike’s specifications and electrical system.

A discontinued e-bike doesn’t necessarily mean a dead e-bike.

For independent bike shops, this can create new repair opportunities. For riders, it can mean keeping a bike they already own instead of replacing it simply because the original manufacturer stopped supplying parts.

Budlong believes the customer relationship shouldn’t end when the sale is complete. Its goal is simple:

Help more bikes stay on the road, for longer.

Don’t replace the bike just because you can’t find the part.
